- Mt. Morris Fire Awarded 2005 Fire Act Grant -
The
Mt. Morris Fire Protection District, Mt. Morris, IL has been awarded a 2005 Fire
Act Grant from the Department of Homeland Security. The $65,424 dollars ($3,271
local share and $62,153 Federal share) will be used to purchase new personal
protective equipment (PPE) for both firefighters and EMS workers.
The PPE includes turnout coats and pants, gloves, hoods, helmets and gut belts.
Also included in the grant award is a washer/extractor to help properly clean
and maintain the new PPE. The new PPE will be lighter in weight yet provide more
protection for the wearer through improvements in fabric technology and design.
